Culture Education Center Presents an Online Art Viewing Education Content, “ON
AIR”
The Art Culture Education Center affiliated
with the K-Arts launched a program, “Online Art Viewing Education: ON AIR.” The
program aims to provide an experience of viewing art without restrictions on
time and location. It dealt with three topics on the Korean mask dance for
first topic.
The ON AIR adds Prof. Park In-soo’s analysis
to the passionate mask dance (Talchum) scene performed by the current and
graduate students of the Department of Korean Traditional Dramatic Performing
Arts. In that way, it leads the general public who is unfamiliar with the mask
dance to better understand and view the performance. As the Korean traditional
mask dance is assured to be enlisted on the UNESCO Masterpieces of the Oral and
Intangible Heritage of Humanity, the ON AIR enlightens its value and delivers many
stories hidden behind the performance to the audience.
Part 1 introduces the communal nature of
Talchum which emphasizes the harmony of neighbors through the Bukcheong
sajanoreum performance. Part 2 presents various Talchum scenes by region and
topic within which one can find satire and humor. Part 3 explores the history
of how Talchum has kept up with the changes and communicated with society over time.
The Online Art Viewing Education: ON AIR
is available online via the official K-Arts YouTube channel, “K-Arts TV,”
K-Arts Naver TV, “K-Arts Art Theatre,” and Naver V-Live, “K-Arts Theatre.” And
it is accessible anywhere anytime.
