Four
of Current or Graduate Students of K-Arts Become the Winners of the Spring
Literary Contests 2023
The four writers, current or graduate
students of the K-Arts, enjoyed the glory of winning in the spring literary
contests of 2023 organized by the leading daily newspapers.
Jeon Ji-yeong (BA in Arts Management,
School of Dance), notably, owned the triumph of winning two contests, one by the
Chosun Ilbo and the other by the Hankook Ilbo. Her “The Rat” won in the short
story category of the Chosun Ilbo’s contest while “Albeit the Rain Hitting the Railing
Flooded into the House” won in the fiction category of the Hankook Ilbo’s. Prize-winner
Jeon said, “It took me a while to start writing the first novel. I hesitated
and held back myself countlessly. When I finally decided to be the one who
writes, I determined to be a persistent and diligent writer although I might
lack enough talent. Endurance and diligence are the only weapons I own. Together
with what literature means to me, they are a precious inheritance from my
family. The literature taught and consoled me that everyone acts on the reasons
they can’t help but submit to.”
Besides, Kim Hyebin (BA in Filmmaking, School of Film, TV & Multimedia) obtained the prize with “The Redbull” in the medium-length fiction category in the Dong-a Ilbo contest. Roh Eun-ji (MA in Playwriting, School of Drama) won in the Korean Economic Daily’s full-length novel category with “Diving in Cenote.” Lee Minsun (BA in Playwriting, School of Drama) earned the prize with “The World of Eunsu” in the drama category in the Gangwon Daily.
Lastly, Lee Kyeonghun, who is newly
admitted to the BA program in the Department of Playwriting in the School of
Drama this year, became the winner of Hankook Ilbo’s contest in the drama
category with “The Rabbit Hunting.”
