Composer Kim Shin Wins in the George Enescu International Competition

 

Composer Kim Shin, an alumnus of the School of Music, seized the 1st prize at the 2022 George Enescu International Competition in the symphony music category. In the competition finished in Bucharest, Southern Romania, on 18 September, Kim became the 1st prize winner with Symphony No. 1 – Consolations based on the unanimous decision by the jury. The prize-winning work will be premiered at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest in 2024.

 

The George Enescu International Competition is a part of the George Enescu Festival, the largest music festival in Eastern Europe. Earlier in his musical career, Kim Shin won multiple competitions, including the Joongang Music Concours, SEIL Korean Art Song Competition, and Wien Modern Composition Concours.
