Professor Chae Soojung of the School of Korean Traditional Arts established the World Pansori Association to lead the globalization and popularization of the pansori. The World Pansori Association held the launching ceremony and the first symposium at the Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun on Saturday, 24 September.

The World Pansori Association aims to globalize and popularize the pansori. In comparison, Korean Vocal Music Association founded by the sori master Kim Changhwan in 1934 and the Pansori Preservation Association founded by the sori master Park Rokju in 1971 reflected the needs of the times to protect and develop the pansori amid the rapidly changing circumstances of the era. Notably, 2023 marks the 20th anniversary since the pansori was listed as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. It is anticipated that the symposium would provide guidance for the developmental strategy of globalization of pansori for the next 20 years.
