At the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany, flutist Kim Yubeen became the winner of the flute category. Also, pianist Kim Junhyung took second in the piano in the same contest. With this, the two musicians who graduated from the Korea National Institute of the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA) earned awards in the different segments.
Founded in 1952 by the ARD, Germany’s regional
public-service broadcaster, it is the largest music contest in Germany that
embraces a broad range of classical music genres, such as piano, string, wind,
chamber music, and voice. With his win, Kim Yubeen became the first Korean to
win the award in the wind in the competition’s history.
