7th Dream-tree Film Art Camp

School of Film, TV & Multimedia Hosts the 7th Dream-tree Film Art Camp

From 26 to 29 July, the School of Film, TV & Multimedia opened the film playground at the 7th Dream-tree Film Art Camp. Organized by the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, Shin Young Kyun Arts Culture Foundation, and Namwon Elementary School, Jeju, and supported by the Korean Film Council, the event took place for five years annually since 2012 before the outbreak of the COVID-19. It restarted after the pandemic.

More than fifty students from eight schools, including Namwon Elementary School, participated in the event. The event was composed of various programs consisting of film production or VR experience on the theme of “Umang Abang Blues.” (The words “umang” and “abang” are Jeju dialect for “mom” and “dad,” respectively.) The instructors of the School of Film, TV & Multimedia hosted the programs, making it an invaluable opportunity for young students dreaming of working in the film industry in the future. By enabling the students to experience film production, the programs were used as a curriculum to encourage them to find and create their own stories. Furthermore, the films produced by the students were screened at the local school playgrounds, inviting the student's parents and the locals as the audience.
