President
Kim Daejin Is Appointed the Music Director of International Special Music &
Arts Festival 2022
President Kim Daejin of the K-Arts was
appointed the music director of the International Special Music & Arts
Festival 2022, a special event for artists with development disorders. The
event took place at the Pyeongchang Alpensia Resort in Gangwon-do from 26 to 29
July. Beginning from the Pyeongchang Special Olympics 2013, the Special
Olympics Korea has organized the event to let artists with developmental
disabilities and non-disabled from different countries enjoy music, arts, and
sports together. It ultimately encourages our society to embrace developmental
disabilities. The theme of this year’s festival was “Again, we are here
together,” conveying the meaning of a festival of the artists with
developmental disabilities reunited in Pyeongchang after surviving COVID-19.
In this event, 450 artists including 110
artists with developmental disabilities participated. President Kim opened the
event by directing the classical music on the first day of the ceremony. Every
night during the festival, many programs such as classical music concerts,
master classes, visual arts exhibitions, and activities for experiencing the
Special Olympics were provided for all participants.
