K-Arts Showcases Students’ Media Artwork in the Exhibition, “K-Arts in Osaka: Communication”

The K-Arts in Osaka: Communication,” a media art exhibition hosted by the Korean Culture Center (KCC) Osaka, where the Art & Technology Lab (AT Lab) of the K-Arts participated as a cooperator, took place from 1 to 15 July.

The five teams selected from an open exhibition on “communication” took part and showcased for the first time the various forms of media artworks – such as audiovisuals, performances, games, etc. – to the audience in Japan. The displayed works included the “Village, Wishing Shrine,” where an audience can make a wish for him or herself, “To Us,” which explores the question of participation and relations, and “Line in Line,” which attempts to make connections between people. They, in common, directly communicated with the audience on-site.

In addition, with the aid of the AT Lab, the event also offered a metaverse exhibition, where the audience could experience the exposition in a virtual space beyond spatial limits. Director Jeong Taegu of the KCC Osaka predicted, “Shortly, the ways we enjoy the art and culture, as well as the forms of cultural exchanges between the countries, will vary. I hope this media art exhibition to be a clue to pave the way for new communication modes for the next generation in Korea and Japan.”
