Han Sungwoo and Park Sunmi Are Promoted to the Soloists in American Ballet Company
Dancers Han Sungwoo and Park Sunmi, who studied in the Department of Dance Performance in the School of Dance and became members of the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) ballet company, are going to promote to soloists.
Additionally, dancer Park Hanna, who joined the Royal
Ballet’s Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Program after completing her education in the
Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA), was promoted to
Artist.
Han Sungwoo entered the School of Dance
at the age of 17. He set a record by becoming the first-ever male winner of the
Prix de Lausanne. Aside from that, Han won the Beijing International Ballet in
the junior (gold prize), the Premio Roma Danza in the junior (gold prize),
Youth America Grand Prix in the male solo and the pas de deux (gold prize)
before joining the ABT in 2013.
Park Sunmi studied in the School of Dance as an art prodigy at 19 years old. Then she became the first Korean dancer to be the winner of the Moscow International Ballet Competition. Park also earned the gold prize in Youth America Grand Prix in pas de deux. She graduated early from the K-Arts in 2019 and became a member of the ABT.
