K-Arts–Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation Host the 8th Gyechon Village Classic Street Festival

Sponsored by the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation and hosted by the K-Arts, “The 2022 Art Village Project: The 8th Gyechon Village Classic Street Festival” takes place from 27 to 28 August at the Gyechon Village in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do.

The Gyechon festival began in 2015 to provide classical music education to students of the Gyechon Middle School in a remote country village while these students hardly have a chance to be in touch with arts performances or education. The project has also supported the orchestral recitals by the students. Thenceforth, the Gyechon went through a positive change, as each summer, the maestros of classical music visited the village to play their music, and the people from the cities came to town to listen to their music.

This year, pianist Lim Yunchan of the School of Music, the youngest-ever winner of the Van Cliburn, pianist Yuhki Kuramoto, cellist Hong Jinho, and clarinetist Jerry Jae-il will perform at the festival. There is no entry fee, and pre-reservation is available.
