Baek Doyoung of KNIGA Placed the 2nd in the International Trumpet Guild


 

Baek Doyoung (17), who majors in trumpet at the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA) in Tongyeong campus of South Gyeongsang Province, triumphed in placing 2nd in the competition of the 46th International Trumpet Guild (ITG) conference in San Antonio, Texas, the United States, on 4 June. Baek marked a record of being the youngest-ever participant in the category (under age 25) he entered and ended with taking 2nd place.

 

Baek has been gaining attention as a trumpet performer when he became the winner of the 2021 Classical Music Magazine Competition and winning in many prestigious music competitions around the world ever since. From 2021, Baek has also been studying under Professor Dmitry Lokalenkov (Department of Instrumental Music in KNIGA, School of Music).

 

The KNIGA under the K-Arts, founded in 2008, is the first national arts-educational institution for the gifted in arts in Korea. Based on the K-Arts’ exceptional faculty and curriculum, the KNIGA aims to construct a system for discovering and nurturing young talents with the potential for arts. Since 2020, it has contributed to the gifted living in provincial areas by operating the regional campus and providing extensive arts education programs in Sejong and Tongyeong of South Gyeongsang Province.
