Eight
of School of Dance and Eight of KNIGA Conquer the 52nd Dong-A Dance
Competition
A total of 16 students of the School of
Dance and Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA), 12 in ballet and 4 in Korean dance, swept the
awards in the 52nd Dong-A Dance competition.
In ballet, Jeon Min-cheol (17) was awarded the gold prize, Yu Juhyeong (19) the silver, and Bae Sang-eun (18) the bronze in the male senior. Furthermore, Lee Sojeong (20) attained the silver while there was no gold-prize winner in the female senior.
Jung Ara (12), enrolled in the KNIGA ballet program, earned the gold prize in the elementary school student category. Also, in the same category, Park Keunbyeolbit (11) won the bronze, and Joo Minho (11) won the participation prize. In the middle school student category, Lee Seryeong (15) took the gold, and Park Yunjae (13), Lee Chae-eun (14), and Hong Tae-yi (14) received the participation prizes. In the high school student category, Son Minji (17) became the co-winner of the gold.
For the Korean dance section
for the male senior, Choi Jaewon (23) received the gold prize, earning the
exemption from the military service. Kim Kyu-nyun (21) took the bronze. For the
female senior in the Korean traditional creative dance, Kim Soyeon (21) won the
silver. Heo Jong-geun (28) acquired the bronze for the male senior.
Originated from the New Dancer
Presentation (1959-1961), the Dong-A Dance Competition is a domestic dance
contest with a long history that started in 1964.
