The School of Korean Traditional Arts of the K-Arts organizes the 2nd International Composition Competition as a part of “K-Wave,” a project that promotes Korean culture. The event discovers creative music which bases on the Korean traditional sound. To encourage the creative Korean traditional music in various forms integrating the sounds of the Eastern and Western instruments, the competition goals at carving out a way for the Korean traditional music to advance to the world. It also pursues the acceptance of traditional Korean musical instruments in the contemporary context.

The K-Arts International Composition Competition is open to all composers of all age groups and nationalities. The requirement for an entry is a newly composed work less than 8-minute long that has never been premiered. Also, the submission must be chamber music for one to three players that includes at least one Korean traditional instrument. The application is open from 1 to 30 June (KST). One submission per applicant is allowed only. The contest winners receive the prize money from 1 million to 4 million KRW.
