On 11 May, the embassy of the Republic of Korea in France and the Korean Cultural Center in France awarded ballet dancer Park Sae-eun, the etoile of the Paris Opera Ballet (BOP) who studied in the Department of Dance Performance at the School of Dance, the Prix Culturel France-Corée (France-Korea Cultural Prize). 

 

Park is the first dancer from Asia to acquire the etoile title of the BOP. She joined the ballet company in 2011 with a fixed-term contract, became a permanent member in 2012, was promoted to the principal dancer in 2017, and reached the highest rank in the company last year. Besides, Park with the BOP is planning on presenting the first performance in Korea in the upcoming July.

 

The France-Korea Cultural Prize was founded in 1999 to acknowledge the achievements of individuals or institutions who contribute to promoting and advancing Korean art and culture in France. From this year to the next three years, the Louis Vuitton, Moët & Chandon, Hennessy group will engage as the exclusive sponsor of the prize.
