KRECA Hosts “Metaverse, Its Potential for Expansion into Arts”

 

Korea National Research Center for the Arts Hosts the Spring Academic Symposium, “Metaverse, Its Potential for Expansion into Arts”


 

On Friday, 25 March, at the main hall on the Daehak-ro campus, the Korea National Research Center for the Arts, affiliated with the K-Arts, held the 2022 Spring Academic Symposium. The event was live-streamed on the K-Arts TV YouTube channel. 

 

The symposium consisted of 3 parts. In part 1 of the event, the experts in performing arts or visual arts talked about their examples related to the topic. In part 2, the professionals in music, dance, acting, or fine art, presented the papers they had written on the subject. In part 3, the experts from various fields and audiences had a comprehensive discussion.

 

 The metaverse demonstrates various possibilities in contact with many forms of art, such as NFT art, immersive performance, and generative art. Accordingly, the symposium focused on phenomena and issues observed where the conventional art concepts and theories and their practices converge with the metaverse. On this premise, it talked over the potential for the expansion of metaverse into arts.
