On 17 March, director Jeong Jae-eun released her documentary film, Cats’ Apartment (2022), which follows the journey of trapping and releasing homeless cats who had to leave behind the apartments due to the reconstruction. Director Jeong debuted with Take Care of My Cat (2001). Ever since, Jeong has depicted the history of urban living space and the inspection of the life in it through a series of 3 documentaries on architecture, including Talking Architect (2011), Talking Architecture, City: Hall(2013), and Ecology in Concrete (2017).

For 2.5 years, Cats’ Apartment (2022) has tracked and filmed the ecology of community cats in the changing environments affected by the reconstruction of the Dunchon Jugong Apartment in 2017. Jeong Jae-eun stated, “I wanted to say we should consider how we associate with the animals when we, the humans, decide the reconstruction.” She added, “In any urban life, where reconstruction or re-urbanization isn’t rare, I believe thinking about the changes in survival or life methods of animals is a universal matter.”
