Arts and Culture Planners Yu Sehun and Yang Sujin Found the Art Space Cargo

Independent arts and culture planners Yu Sehun and Yang Sujin, who studied Arts Management in the School of Dance, founded the Art Space Cargo, a non-profit exhibition space on Yeongjong Island, Incheon.

By the word “cargo,” the founders imply delivering the arts to the region where art-cultural infrastructure is insufficient. For the next two months, the space holds a special exhibition, “Test Flight: The Raw Thought of Departure,” in which visual artists Uhm Jieun and Son Heemin participate.

Uhm caught the public eye by being included in the 2022 Doosan Art Lab selection. She will present the works that incorporate the geological nature of the region where the exhibition space locates, adopting videos of typhoons, ocean, and tsunamis. Son is going to display the sculptures of microbes inspected using micro-optic technology. The exhibit also includes the experimental sculptures of microbe structures collected from the seawater.

Co-founders Yu Sehun and Yang Sujin said, “We expect the residents of Yeongjong Island and also the Incheon citizens can enjoy the arts and cultures in their everyday life.”
