School of Music Gives the “Forte Concert with K-Arts Sinfonietta”

On Friday, 25 March, at the Lee Kang Sook Hall on the Seocho-dong campus, K-Arts Sinfonietta, the chamber ensemble composed of faculty, graduate, and current students, presented the “Forte Concert with K-Arts Sinfonietta.”

The members formed the group upon being invited to the 2022 Tongyeong International Music Festival. At the event with conductor Christoph Poppen, who led many world-famous orchestras, including the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, the ensemble performed D. Shostakovich Cello Certo No. 1 in E-flat Major and Beethoven Symphony No.2 in D Major. They also sent their support and solidarity to Ukraine by playing Serenade for String Orchestra Collaboration by Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov. Cellist Lee Dongryul, who had gone through the school audition on 18 March, joined the collaboration.

On 27th, two days after the concert, at the invited performance in the Tongyeong Concert Hall, K-Arts Sinfonietta collaborated with Norwegian cellist Truls Mørk who won world-class music record awards many times, such as Grammy Awards. Together they presented Sabina for String Orchestra (2020) by Andrew Norman – for the first time in Asia – in addition to D. Shostakovich Cello Concert No. 1 in E-flat and Beethoven Symphony No. 2 in D Major.
