School of Korean Traditional Arts and the Embassy of South Korea in Germany Present a Performance, “Händel and Halle Meet Korea”

On Tuesday, 16 November, the School of Korean Traditional Arts and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Germany hosted a performance of Korean traditional music and dance presented with composer Händel’s work, “Händel and Halle Meet Korea,” to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the unification of Germany at the Ulrich Recital Hall in Halle.

The concert is also a part of the event, “Korea – Peace and Reunification in Focus (Korea-Frieden und Wiedervereinigung im Blick).” The city of Halle, selected for hosting the official event to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the unification of Germany, is in the region of former East Germany. Halle is also the hometown of composer Hädel, known as the mother of music. The event has significance for being the first Korean traditional performance in Halle.

At the invitation, the ensemble of the K-Arts’ School of Korean Traditional Arts staged several Korean music pieces, “Suryongeum” and Cheongseongjajinhanip,” and Korean dances “Salpuri” and “Seungmu.”
