Two School of Dance Students Win in the 2021 Korea International Contemporary Dance Competition


 

At the Korea International Contemporary Dance Competition (KICDC) held from 27 to 29 September at the Cheonan Arts Center, Son Jiwon and Kim Minseo, current Contemporary Dance majors of the School of Dance, each garnered 2nd and 3rd prizes in the Contemporary Dance.

 

Earlier, Son Jiwon won the 1st Prize in the Senior Female at the 2021 National New Talent Dance Competition and the Gold Prize in the Senior Female Solo at the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition. Kim Minseo also seized the 1st Prize in the Senior Male at the 2020 National New Talent Dance Competition. Co-organized by the Korea Dance Association and Cheonan Foundation for Arts and Culture, the KICDC aims to discover new talented dancers. This year, 641 candidates from 32 countries competed, recording the highest number of participants in the competition’s history despite the COVID-19 situation.
