Toy Designer Rim Hyunseung Gets Attention with His Doll Figure in the Netflix’s “Squid Game”

Toy designer Rim Hyunseong, who studied Design in the School of Visual Arts, is in the center of attention with a doll figure he produced for Netflix’s hit, “Squid Game.” 

Rim’s giant doll that appears in the first game, “Red Light, Green Light,” instantly horrified the world, announcing losing the game means death to the players. Without telling Rim they would use the dolls for theatrical props, Siren Pictures, the production company, ordered Rim forty “Red Light, Green Light” doll figures. 

Rim Hyunseong goes by the name of “twelvedot” when he makes art toys. He earned international recognition as he won the Break-Through Artist Award at the 2015 Designer Toy Awards. Lately, from 9 October to 5 November at the Clutter Gallery, New York, he holds a solo exhibition. Next year, he has another solo exhibition scheduled in Beijing.
