Ballet Dancers of School of Dance Lead the Korea National Ballet’s Premiere, “Jewels”

From 20 to 24 October at the Seoul Arts Center, the three principal ballet dancers Shin Seungwon, Park Seulki, and Kim Lihoe of the Korea National Ballet acted the leading roles in the premiere of “Jewels.” Shin, Park, and Kim are all K-Arts alumni who majored in Dance Performance.

The “Jewels” is the 187th subscription performance of the Korea National Ballet. Choreographed by George Balanchine, a Georgian-American ballet choreographer known as the father of the neoclassical ballet, the work is composed of three acts with the themes of jewels – Emeralds, Rubies, and Diamonds. Without having a specific plot, the piece solely emphasizes jewel-colored choreographs, music, and costumes.

Ballerinos Kim Kiwan, Lee Jaewoo, and Ha Jiseok, also graduates of the School of Dance, danced the supporting roles with the ballerinas who represent the jewels in the piece.
