Yeo-jin, an alumna of the School of Music, was appointed to the section
principal in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra in Germany on 14 Sept. 21 (local
time). The confirmation on the preservation of the position will be after going
through the apprenticeship until next July. In 2017, Han was the first Korean
to win the 3rd prize at the Kobe International Flute Competition. She also was
the youngest winner in the history of the contest.
The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra is the oldest civilian string and wind orchestra founded in 1743. The orchestra periodically presents the performances at the two representative churches of Leipzig, St. Thomas Church, and St. Nicholas Church. It gained worldwide fame since composer Felix Mendelssohn had led the orchestra.
