Organist Lee Minjun Wins in the International Organ Competition of Saint-Maurice d’Agaune

Organist Lee Minjun, a first-year graduate student who majors in Instrumental Music at the School of Music, became the winner of 1st Prize and Audience Prize at the 10th International Organ Competition of Saint-Maurice d’Agaune held from 10 August 21 through 15 August 21. It is one of the prestigious music Concours of the world that began in 2001 to commemorate the esteemed organist Georges Cramer (1909-1981). World-renowned organist Jean-Marc Luisada and Korean organist Oh Ja Kyung participated in the contest as the jury. In the meantime, Oh was the first musician from Asia to judge in this contest. Organist Oh is also a professor of the School of Music in our school.

Lee became interested in early music while he was studying piano for his bachelor’s degree. Ever since then, he studied organ for his minor in the undergraduate and continued to pursue his master’s degree in the organ. Currently, Lee studies under professor Oh Ja Kyung and organists Ryu Ahra and Park Joonho. Lee first called the public attention after playing at the Myeongdong Cathedral and in the KNUA Organ Series.
