 15 Students Clinch Awards at the 18th Seoul Int’l Dance Competition, Including 1st Prizes in Senior Ballet and Senior Contemporary Dance

 

 

Fifteen of our current students in K-Arts School of Dance and an affiliated institution, Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA), displayed their excellence by winning at the 18th Seoul International Dance Competition held from Tuesday, June 1st to Thursday, July 8th at Goyang Eoulim Nuri Start Sand Theater and Gangdong Arts Center.

 

The winners include ten in ballet, four in ethnic dance, and three in contemporary dance. Lee Eunsu, a winner in ballet for the Senior Male and Grand Prix, and Jeong Ha-neul, a 1st prize winner for the Contemporary Senior Male, were also rewarded an exemption from military service.

 

In ballet for the Senior Male, Lee Eunsu (19 years old, a senior) earned the 1st prize, and Kang Kyeong-ho (19 years old, a sophomore) won the 3rd prize. For the Senior Female, Park Hamin (20 years old, a junior) seized the 1st prize, Kim Minkyung (21 years old, a senior) acquired the 2nd prize, and Kim Jimin (19 years old, a sophomore) won the 3rd prize.

 

In contemporary dance for the Senior Male, Jeong Ha-neul (25 years old, a freshman) won the 1st prize while Lee Jisu (22 years old, a senior) earned the 1st prize for the Senior Female. For the Senior Female, Kim Jihye won the 3rd prize.

  

In ethnic dance, Cho Yi-jeong (22 years old, a senior) won the Silver Prize for the creative senior male. In traditional dance for the Senior Male, Lee Seung-chan (22 years old, a senior) took the Bronze Prize. In the same category for the Senior Female, Kim Minji (23 years old, a senior) received the President of Jury’s Prize and Kim Taerin (21 years old, a senior) received the Executive Director’s Prize.

 

Furthermore, Son Minji (16 years old, 2nd year in Seoul Arts High School), a current student of ballet program in KNIGA, won the 1st prize for the Junior Female. Other students of KNIGA also collected awards. So Ha-eun (16 years old, 1st year in Sunhwa Arts High School) took the Executive Director’s Prize, and Lee Da-kyeong (14 years old, 2nd year in Yewon School) attained the 1st prize in the Pre-Junior II Female. Hyun Seung-hwan (15 years old, 3rd year in Yewon School) won the 3rd prize in the Pre-Junior II Male. In Pre-Junior I Male, Park Yoon-jae (13 years old, 1st year in Kaywon Middle School of Arts) took the 1st prize, and Hyun Jiho (12 years old, 6th grade in Yangsan Elementary School) earned the 2nd prize.
