Professor Lim Minouk of School of Visual Arts Hosts “Curtain” in Hong Kong

Professor Lim Minouk of the Department of Fine Arts (School of Visual Arts) joined in Curtain, an exhibition in Para Site, Hong Kong. It is open from 15 May 21 to 25 July 21.

Rockbound Art Museum in Shanghai and Para Site, a non-profit art organization in Hong Kong, co-organized this event. It aims to induce artists to experiment, exceeding the temporal and physical definition of an exhibition through an art project that spans “multiple geographies and journeys in collaboration with an evolving list of collaborators and practitioners.” Twenty-four artists from the globe took part in this project to offer their audience a multi-layered experience for the fluid concept of “curtain.” Among them, professor Lim presents an installation work, “Antigone.”

The host has invited Prof. Lim Minouk saying 'her allegorical, Frankenstein-like heroine inserts social commentary to the found objects that make up the sculpture. In her eponymous classical Greek tragedy, "Antigone" was sentenced to death for attempting to bury her brother who had been accused of treason.' It also added 'In her installations, the artist employs common media devices and a hodgepodge of disused materials to underscore the contrast between the worship bestowed on the technologies that are in vogue and the disposability of technologies from last years.'
