K-Arts Members Engage Large in Tongyeong International Music Festival

K-Arts Faculty Members, Students and Alumni Engage in Tongyeong International Music Festival

The great numbers of K-Arts members contributed to the Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF), one of the most important classical music events in Asia, held on the theme of “Changing Reality” from 26 March to 4 April. The festival is dedicated to Isang Yun (1917-1995), Korean composer and the winner of the Goethe Medallion, and is held in his hometown Tongyeong.

Actress Yeri Han, an alumna of the Department of Korean Traditional Dance at the School of Korean Traditional Arts who has lately been drawing public attention after starring as main actress in Minari (2020), performed with ballerina Kim Joo Won of the Korean National Ballet in the premiere of “Dear Luna.”

In “Piano Marathon Concert,” where four pianists played in relays, current students and graduates of the School of Music participated. Tae Hyung Kim, a graduate, played the music by R. Schumann and I. Stravinsky, and Jong-Hai Park, a junior in instrumental music major, played the music by G. Handel and J. Brahms. Also, William Youn from the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts played F. Schubert’s music.

Furthermore, as Professor Kang-ho Lee (cellist), professor Jin-sang Lee (pianist), and visiting professor Ingo Goritzki (oboist) made their presence, they showed worthy of the name of the K-Arts as a national institution for classical music.
