2021 Oscar Shortlists “Rain Song” of Alumna Actress Han Yeri, the Minari Original Soundtrack for Best Original Song

The 93rd Oscars shortlisted the Minari(2020) original soundtrack “Rain Song” by actress Han Yeri for the Best Original Song. Han is K-Arts alumna who received a bachelor’s degree in Korean traditional dance in the School of Korean Traditional Arts.

Han participated in singing the theme song, and she said, “I first heard the song while watching the movie and the end credits came up. The director didn’t want someone who was an obviously good singer, but instead to show the feelings of Monica and David, and for the people listening to recall the lullabies of their childhood. As I heard the song, I understood why he’d gone in that direction. The music director, Emile Mosseri, created a great song and he’s been nominated for Best Original Score, so I hope he gets good results."

Besides, when the film premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, it was quickly hailed by critics and audiences alike, and scored both the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award.
