Professor
Kim Yong-geol of School of Dance Presents the Ballet Salon Concert
Professor Kim Yong-geol comes on stage at the Gwangju Culture & Art Center on 13 March 2021 at 2 p.m. with his creative dance piece, Ballet Salon Concert #1 Bruch & Bach suite by Yong-geol Kim. It is the first ballet salon concert of the year by Gwangju City Ballet. Along with a commentary by professor Kim and art director Choi Tae-ji (Gwangju City Ballet), the performance will present the gestures of modern dance with Baroque and Romantic music pieces, including M. Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor Op.26, J. S. Bach’s Violin Sonata Partita, Violin Sonata No. 3 in C Major, and others.
Professor Kim said,
“Countless motifs I found in these pieces reminded me of movements of the
joints in a human body that are countless alike. They were the inspiration of
my work.” Among these pieces, M. Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor Op.26
focuses on delivering hope to the post-Corona world by depicting past, present,
and future by movement throughout the entire performance. The live streaming of
performance is accessible through the YouTube channel of Gwangju MBC.
