Seven Winners in the 60th Dong-A Music Competition


 

Kim Sijun, Cho Hyeon-seo, Lee Eunbin, Park Sunwoo, Kim Jaehyeon, Choi Ha-yeong, and Jin Yechan, all of whom are current students of the School of Music, won in the 60th Dong-A Music Competition. The competition takes place biennially depending on the division. This year, it held the 1st and 2nd preliminaries at Dong-A Ilbo in Chungjeongno and Korea University Inchon Memorial Hall since October 6th. And twenty-one participants moved up to the finals. 

 

In the finals held on the 27th and 28th of October at the Music Concert Hall in Seoul National University of Education, sixteen entrants had the glory of winning awards. Four of them are the first-prize winners of different divisions. Kim Sijun acquired the Ugeum Prize equivalent to the first prize in violin, and violinist Ugeum Yang Haeyeop handed the award to the winner. Cho Hyeon-seo won the 2nd prize in violin, and Lee Eunbin won the 2nd prize in viola. Park Sunwoo and Kim Jaehyeon won 2nd and 3rd prizes in cello individually. Choi Ha-yeong won the 2nd prize in horn, and Jin Yechan won the 3rd prize in trumpet.
