The Students of the School of Dance or KNIGA Sweep the Prizes at the 17th Seoul International Dance Competition


The current students of the School of Dance or the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA) swept the prizes at the 17th Seoul International Dance Competition.

 

A total of 22 students excelled in categories of ballet, contemporary dance, and ethnic dance. From the School of Dance, Kim Seok-ju for the Male Senior and Kim Minyeong for the Female Senior each took the 1st Prize in Ballet. Also, Hwang Sujin obtained the 3rd Prize for the Female Senior. Further for the Male Senior, Kim Sijin received the Executive Director’s Prize, Lee Yubeom received the Chairman of the Jury’s Prize, and Ryu Seung-wu took the Jury’s Special Prize. Oh Yeon, in the meantime, won the Chairman of the Jury’s Prize in the Female Senior. In Contemporary Dance, Jeong In-hyeok (School of Dance) became the winner of the 1st Prize for the Male Senior. Kim Sung-min won the 2nd Prize, and Jeong Ji-wan won the Executive Director’s Prize for the Male Senior as well. Cho Gwan-yeong obtained the Executive Director’s Prize for the Female Senior. Moreover, Jeong So-ham took the 3rd Prize for the Female Senior Foreign Participants in Contemporary Dance. In Ethnic Dance, Choi Jaewon won the 1st Prize for the Male Senior, and Kim Eun-yi won the 2nd Prize for the Female Senior.

 

The students of the KNIGA also made notable achievements. Lee Kangwon won the 1st Prize for the Male Junior, and Park Yoonsun won the 2nd Prize for the Female Junior in Ballet. For the Female Pre-junior II, Kim Minjin took the 2nd Prize, and Park Yoon-jae won the 1st Prize for the Male Pre-junior I. Lee Chae-eun, Jeon Ji-yool, and Lee Ji-ho won the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prizes respectively for the Female Pre-junior II. Lastly, Won Seo-yeon acquired the Artistic Director’s Prize for the Female Pre-junior I.
