Ballet Dancers Rhee Hyunjun and Lee Dongtak Lead “Onegin”

Ballerinos Rhee Hyunjun and Lee Dongtak (graduates of the School of Dance) performed in “Onegin” as principal dancers from July 18th 26th at Chungmu Arts Center. It was the first full-length ballet to go on stage following the coronavirus outbreak.

John Cranko’s “Onegin” is known to be the greatest story ballet of the 20th century for its dramatic plot in addition to the profound and persuasive description of characters’ psychologies. Because of this, it is one of the most favored repertories in the Universal Ballet. This time, Lee Dongtak and Kang Mi-sun, known for their excellent techniques and magnetic acting, and Rhee Hyunjun and Son Youhee, a principal-dancer couple in the Universal Ballet, alternatively played the roles of Onegin and Tatiana. Earlier in 2016, the Rhee and Son couple presented as the same roles for the Tulsa Ballet’s production.
