Hwang Se-Hee
of the School of Music Wins the Fourth Prize at the 11th USA
International Harp Competition
Hwang Se-Hee, a student of the School of Music at the Korea National University of Arts, ranked fourth place at the 11th USA International Harp Competition (USAIHC).
Founded in 1989 by Susan McDonald, world-renowned harpist, the USAIHC is a triennial performance competition which is held at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. The USAIHC is recognized as a globally prestigious harp competition along with the International Harp Contest in Israel. Harpist Hwang began to draw global attention with her musical career since she became the winner of the Lyon & Healey Harps Award in 2014. In the same year, she won the Camac Special Prize, the grand prize at the 2014 France International Harp Competition, with the unanimous consent of the jury.
On top
of that, Hwang was also granted 2nd prize at the International Harp
Contest in Italy 2017, 1st prize at NSAL competition at Indiana
University’s Jacobs School of Music, 2nd prize at the 2012 Japan
Nippon International Harp Competition, and 3rd prize at the 2014
Young Artist International Harp Competition in the US.
