Grand Slam at the National Nangye Fusion Gugak Competition

Current and Former Students of School of Korean Traditional Arts Make a Grand Slam at the National Nangye Fusion Gugak Competition


Four current and former students of School of Korean Traditional Arts at the Korea National University of Arts conquered the 45th National Nangye Fusion Gugak Competition. 

 

At the competition held in Yeong Dong Korean Classical Music Experience Village, a graduate of School of Korean Traditional Arts, won the top prize titled Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award in the general public division while Lim Jae-in, a current student, won the top prize in the college student division. 

 

Also, other current students such as Moon Bin and Seo Hayoung respectively won the 1st prize titled Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do Award and the 2nd prize titled Director-General of National Gugak Center Award, and they all together increased the profile of School of Korean Traditional Arts at the Korea National University of Arts. 

 

The National Nangye Fusion Gugak Competition is an annual music contest which aims to revere the musical accomplishments of Nangye Park Yeon, who is regarded as one of the music masters in Korea as well as to promote traditional culture and arts. It is thus held in Yeong Dong, hometown of Nangye. The award winners, Cho, Lim, Moon, and Seo said, "We are very glad to receive the good prizes all together. We will continue to grow as Gugak artists through constant practice.”
