Alumni of the School of Drama and School of Film, TV & Multimedia Take 2024 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism
(MCST) of South Korea and Korea Creative Content Agency honored awards at the 2024
Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
The MCST selected the candidates based on
the nationwide survey and the experts’ recommendations. Then it further evaluated
the period of candidates’ activities, international accomplishments, and degrees
of industrial and social contributions to review their qualifications. As a
result, 31 were nominated: 6 for Order of Culture Merit, 7 for Presidential
Citation, 8 for Prime Minister’s Citation, and 10 for Minister of Culture,
Sports, and Tourism’s Citation.
Actor Lee Jae-hoon and musical actor Choi
Jae-rim, who studied at the School of Drama, and filmmaker Jang Jae-hyun, an
alumnus of the School of Film, TV & Multimedia were granted Prime Minister’s
Citations. Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s Citation went toward actress
Ahn Eun-jin, an alumna of the School of Drama.
The Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards, founded in 2010, is the most prestigious government award in pop culture. It enhances social statuses and creative endeavors of pop culture artists across different fields, including music, acting, comedy, voice acting, broadcasting writing, and performance by acknowledging their contributions to the advancement of pop culture and arts.
