A drama series, “Black Out” starring actor Byun Yohan,
an alumnus of the School of Drama, is garnering popularity as seen in that
the viewership rating hiked 3 times in 5 weeks compared to the start of airing.
Byun’s acting received a favorable review for contributing to building the perfection
of the plot. With depth and sincerity, Byun portrays a character who
experiences psychological chaos while undergoing 10 years of drastic change, turning
from a high school student to a young man, and a model student to a murderer.
The drama is a mystery thriller originally by German
writer Nele Neuhaus. It started with the lowest viewership among the MBC’s entire
weekend drama series of the year. As the series progressed, nonetheless, as the
high quality of the screenplay and impressive acting by actors and
actresses became the talk of the town, the viewership rose to 9.9%, breaking
the limits of the genre.
Since he was a student in K-Arts, Byun has gained
recognition as an actor by appearing in more than 30 independent and short
films. Later he played characters in “Misaeng” (2014), “Six Flying Dragons”
(2015), “Mr. Sunshine” (2018), and “The Book of Fish” (2021). Then he accomplished
the grand slam in Korea’s 3 major film awards, winning the Best Supporting
Actor in the Grand Bell Awards, Blue Dragon Film Awards, and Baeksang Arts
