Lee Yeeun, School of Dance, Admitted to the 2024 Paris Opera Ballet
Ballerina Lee Yeeun, an alumna of the Department
of Dance Performance, became a permanent member of the 2024 Paris Opera Ballet
upon passing the audition with the top grade. Lee joined the company only 6
months ago. Paris Opera Ballet holds the entrance audition every early July.
This time, 170 female and 150 male dancers vied for the 3 posts, and Lee Yeeun
became one of the 3 winners.
It is highly competitive as Paris Opera Ballet makes its first selection from a pool of graduates of the Paris Opera Ballet School and then recruits the rest of the applicants for the remaining posts. Winning in the 107 to 1 competition, Lee Yeeun proved her competence and had the glory of earning the permanent post.
From her 4th year in elementary
school to her 3rd year in middle school, Lee completed the
curriculum in the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA). At age 15, she entered the School of Dance as a dance
prodigy. At age 18, she obtained her BA only in 3 years, which was originally a
4-year course. After that, she joined the Paris Opera Ballet as a temporary
member in February 2024. She set a record by advancing to a permanent post only
after 6 months of joining as a temporary member.
