Prof. Nam Hwayeon, School of Visual Arts, Wins the Ilwoo Art Awards

Prof. Nam Hwayeon, School of Visual Arts, became the first winner of the Ilwoo Art Awards by the Ilwoo Foundation under the Hanjin Group. The winner is granted a cash prize of 30 million KRW for artistic creation and an air travel voucher worth the same amount for funding overseas research necessary for creative activities for 5 years. It aims to support a prospective or experienced talent to grow into a world-class artist. Stemming from the Ilwoo Photography Awards founded in 2009, the Ilwoo Art Awards selected its first winner this year.

Prof. Nam earned the award for her approach to research in intersecting and re-interpreting historical and physical times in a non-linear manner. Her new work will be showcased in the latter half of 2025 at Ilwoo Space in the Korean Air on Seosomun-ro in Seoul.
