Dir. Kim Taegon’s “Project Silence” (2023) To Be Released in August
Director Kim Taegon, an alumnus who studied filmmaking
in the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, is expecting the release of his new
film, “Project Silence” (2023). It is also a posthumous work of late actor Lee
Sunkyun, graduate of Department of Acting at School of Drama, who came to global fame with “Parasite” (2019).
“Project Silence” follows a story of people struggling to survive mishaps unexpectedly faced upon being caught on the Airport Bridge that is about to collapse in thick fog where they cannot see an inch ahead. The film was invited to the Midnight Screenings, an Out of Competition section, and premiered at the 76th Cannes in May.
Throughout his career path, director Kim filmed some
short films, such as “Ya Ja Time” (1999), “The Fast Watcher and the Fast Typist”
(2004), and a documentary film, “My Grandfather” (2006). For the feature film,
he debuted with “The Pot” (2008), a horror thriller, on human greed and madness
related to religion, displaying how overwhelming inner fear can be. “The Pot”
was showcased at the 13th New Currents in the Busan International
Film Festival and the International Film Festival Rotterdam where it was well
received both by audience and critics.
