Students Enrolled in the School of Dance or KNIGA Clinch Awards at the 54th Dong-A Dance Competition
At the Dong-A Dance Competition, a respected dance contest in Korea, 6 School of Dance students and 7 Korea National Institute for
the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA) students won awards. The awardees are totaled up to 13,
10 in ballet and 3 in Korean dance. Dong-A Dance Competition was born
from the Festival for New Dancers initiated in 1959. Then in 1964, the event turned
into a national dance competition, and since 1967, it was renamed to its
current name.
In the female ballet category, Ryu Heejeong (3rd year, School of Dance, BA) took the Gold, Lee Yoonseo the Silver, and Kim Minju the Bronze. In the male contemporary Korean dance, Kim Kyu-nyeon (2nd year, School of Korean Traditional Arts, MA) became the winner of the Gold and Kim Paik Bong Prizes. Park Jun-seop won the Silver in the same category. Shin Yumin (3rd year, School of Korean Traditional Arts, BA) obtained the Silver in the female contemporary Korean dance.
Lee Se-ryeong and Park Yun-jae, currently studying
dance at KNIGA affiliated with K-Arts, respectively attained the Gold and the
Bronze in high school student ballet. In the middle school student ballet, In Ji-yeong
earned the Gold, and Lee Eui-so and Kim Ah-yun attained the Encouragement Prizes. In the elementary school student category, Kong Jimin won the Gold, and
Park Hee-hun took the Bronze.
