KRECA Publishes 14th Volume of Arts Education Journal
Korean National Research Center for the Arts (KRECA) affiliated with K-Arts published the 14th volume of Arts Education Journal, “Arts and Arts Education for Sustainable Development.” Arts Education Journals, an annually issued series, highlights the global megatrends related to arts and eyes on the latest issues and trends in arts to envision the future of arts and arts education.
The most recent publication focused on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It goes through the procedure of how each artistic genre can carry out arts and arts education that meets the UN’s SDGs.
The publication
consists of 3 parts with 7 papers, including one by Prof. Uh Kyoungjun of the
Department of Stage Design (School of Drama). Part 1 goes through the changes
and practices toward SDGs found in theater, dance, and visual arts. It thereby examines
new responsibilities and responses along with various artistic explorations in
the environment of performing arts, including theaters. Part 2 focuses on the
theme of an equal and inclusive society and looks at various artistic practices
to improve education in music and film art education. Part 3 focuses on the
influence of culture and arts on SDGs and efforts in policies and practices to successfully
accompany SDGs and arts and culture.
While “Arts and
Arts Education for Sustainable Development” is not for sale, it is available in
national libraries in many countries, for it has been selected as “a material
for international exchange” by the K-Arts and the National Library of Korea every
year. In the country, it is accessible at the National Library of Korea, the National
Assembly Library, and the libraries of many other major universities. Its
