Alumna Actress Choi Gyuri Soars to Fame with Breakout Role in Global Hit Series"Marry My Husband"
Actress Choi Gyuri, who studied in the Department of
Acting, School of Drama, earned public recognition with the drama, “Marry My
Husband” (2024) after 5 years of her acting career. Choi played Yoo Hee-yeon, the
younger sister of U&K Group’s successor Yoo Ji-hyeok (starred by Na In-woo)
in the tvN’s original drama series, “Marry My Husband” (2024), which ended with
great success lately. With the delightful acting every time she appeared in the
series, Choi was beloved by the viewers, obtaining the nickname of “Gen MZ
bubbly girl.”
The series has made a triple success on tvN, the local OTT (Tving), and the global OTT (Amazon Prime Video). According to Nielsen Korea’s rating measurement, it ranked 1st in average viewer rating among all tvN’s Monday and Tuesday dramas. It ranked 1st in contribution to inducing the greatest number of paid streaming viewers among all tvN’s content. It also topped the ranking of global daily TV shows on Amazon Prime Video for the first time for a Korean drama.
In late February, nearing the end of airing the
series, it ranked first 4 times in the global TV shows on Amazon Prime Video,
another first time for a Korean drama. In the monthly rankings, the indicator
of long-term box office success, the drama ranked second in January. In the broadcasting
period, it ranked first in daily rankings in 73 countries, cumulative. It has achieved
all-time records not only in Asia, the region the Korean drama was traditionally
well-received, but in the US (ranking 2nd), Canada (ranking 1st),
France (ranking 2nd), and the UK (ranking 3rd).
