Exhuma
(2024) by director Jang Jaehyun, an
alumnus of the Department of Filmmaking, has topped Korea’s box office for a
month. It is also receiving enthusiastic responses in other regions in Asia in
the meantime. Exhuma called “K-occult,” surpassed 9 million viewers in
Korea, impending on reaching 10 million viewers.
In Indonesia where the film was released on 28 February, the film drew 1.8 million viewers in just 20 days, topping the local box office of Korean films. Especially as the film went viral at the beginning of its release, the number of screenings increased significantly in Indonesia. Topping the ranking of the number of screenings, the film is showing its sensational power.
In Vietnam where the film was released on 15 March, the film attained the highest opening score of 0.66 million dollars as of the release date for the Korean films ever screened in the local. The film made a profit of 3.02 million dollars in the first week of release, making the overwhelming box office pace. Similarly in Taiwan where its release date was 8 March, its fever continued, collecting 28.84 Taiwan dollars in a week.

(2024) is an occult mystery about strange
incidents that occur to the feng-shui master, undertaker, and shamans who unearthed
and relocated an ominous grave for a large sum. It had its world premiere upon
invitation to the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. The 48th
Hong Kong International Film Festival officially invited the film to its gala
section.
