Hyejung, School of Film, TV & Multimedia, Becomes One of the 2024 Canon
Masters
Cinematographer Um Hyejung, who studied directing and
lighting in the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, was appointed to one of
the 8 Canon Masters of 2024. From now on, Um will engage in various creative
activities as an opinion leader. Via the Canon Masters program, Canon Korea,
for a decade, has annually been selecting professionals in photography and film
in the country and supporting them in their creative pursuits with equipment,
technology, and service.
The 2024 Canon Masters, Um has newly joined this year,
comprises 8 members of “masters” who are the experts across the fields of photography
and video.
In her artistic career path, Um was invited to the 59th
Cannes Critics Week with her short film Home Sweet Home (2004). Um
earned recognition as a filmmaker as she won various awards in numerous international
film festivals, including an award for best cinematography at the Mise-en-scéne
Short Film Festival. After her first commercial film, Bluebeard (2017), she
has actively engaged in shooting many works, such as “Extracurricular” (2020)
on Netflix, and “High Cookie” (2023) on U+ Mobile TV.
