K-Arts Welcomes 3 Full-Time Faculty Members in Musicology, Architecture, and Design


On 1 February 2024, the K-Arts assigned 3 new full-time professors. Chung Hyeyoon (Music & Philosophy Major, Department of Musicology) of the School of Music, Prof. Lim Yukyeong (Urban Architecture Major, Department of Architecture) of the School of Visual Arts, and Prof. Eo Minsun (Integrated Design Major, Department of Design) of the School of Visual Arts, K-Arts’s new faculty members are all professionals who are engaging in comprehensive research and educational activities in their fields of study.

 

Prof. Chung Hyeyoon, who will teach music & philosophy major, served as a professor at Myongji University. Her major accomplishments include the publications of “Sonic Self: Approach from Sonic Niche” (2021), “Contemporary Analytic Philosophy on Musical Expressiveness” (2021), “Artistic Extension of the Mind” (2021), and many more. She also actively served as a member of the Korean Society of Aesthetics, the Korean Society for Music Perception and Cognition (KSMPC), and the Korean Society for Music Theory. Chung is a teacher and researcher with abundant experience in many research practices.

 

Prof. Lim Yukyeong, who will give lectures in urban architecture major at K-Arts, was involved in significant research as a member of the Architecture & Urban Research Institute in the field of expertise. The publications based on research projects in which Lim took part are “Making Better Public Buildings: Ground Floor and Open Space Issues” (2019), “Survey and Planning Framework for Sustainable Management of ‘Modern Historic-Cultural District” (2020), “Making guidelines for Operation of Special Architectural District” (2021), and others.

 

Prof. Eo Minsun, in charge of teaching an integrated design major, served as a full-time faculty member at Maryland Institute College of Art (US). In 2017, Eo won an international award from the New York Type Directors Club. In 2021 at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, he presented “A Sustainable Future for Exuma: Environmental Management, Design, and Planning,” a report on the multi-year ecological planning project he had worked on in collaboration with other institutions. Based on his passionate activities earlier in his career, Eo is anticipated to widen the horizon of his major program in K-Arts.
