K-Arts X KAIST Freshmen Camp: Collaboration Between Young Artists & Scientists

K-Arts X KAIST Greets the Newcomers at the 2024 Freshmen Video and Game Camp

The new students of Korea’s representative arts and science technology universities gathered at the K-Arts X KAIST Freshmen Video and Game Camp 2024 and glimpsed the experience of advanced integrated arts, culture, and science technology. The event, involving freshmen of K-Arts and KAIST, began in 2022 according to the MOU between the two institutions that agreed on expanding the support in collaboration on the research of integrated arts, culture, and science technology. In the 2nd year of the event, it was mentioned as “the program highly recommended with 100% satisfaction” by current students.

This year, 36 newcomers from two universities took part in a program consisting of lectures on video and game production and workshops that aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding and creativity required for co-production adopting integrated arts and science technology.

Director Lee Seung-moo of the Art & Technology Lab (AT Lab), a professor of the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, who is in charge of planning and organizing the event, commented, “As I witness high technology such as metaverse or immersive virtual reality advances, the emphasis on the integration of arts and science technology gets stronger than ever. On the contrary, the creative interactions among the talents in the related fields are significantly insufficient. I wish the teamwork opportunities this event provides to enable the participating students to willingly exchange their creative endeavors and talents.”
