K-Arts Hosts Prestigious Karajan Academy Pre-Audition as Part of Woodwind Festival

K-Arts is set to welcome the renowned Karajan Academy of Berlin Philharmonic for a two-day pre-audition event from February 2nd to 3rd, marking a significant collaboration with the Gonjiam Music Festival. This pre-audition is a highlight of the week-long Woodwind Festival, running from January 30th to February 5th, with a focus on discovering and nurturing young, world-class woodwind musicians.

Under the guidance of woodwind soloists from the Berliner Philharmoniker, the pre-audition in Seoul offers aspiring musicians the opportunity to showcase their talent. Successful candidates will earn direct access to the Karajan Academy's main auditions in Berlin, presenting a remarkable chance for career advancement.

Founded in 1972 under the Berlin Philharmonic, the Karajan Academy has been instrumental in cultivating globally acclaimed wind and string performers. The academy's two-year music education program provides personalized training under the supervision of Berlin Philharmonic musicians and active participation in orchestra rehearsals. The institution's impact is evident in the fact that one-third of current Berlin Philharmonic members have completed the academy course.

The Woodwind Festival, hosted at the Seoul Arts Center and the K-Arts campus in Seocho-dong, Seoul, will feature an array of events, including an opening concert on January 30th with performances by flutist Andreas Blau, oboist Christoph Hartmann, and clarinetist Wenzel Fuchs. Additionally, the Woodwind Academy and the Karajan Academy Pre-Audition will take place at the Korea National University of Arts, Seocho campus.
