Jang Jae-hyun's "Pamyo (2024)" Selected for Premiere at 74th Berlin International Film Festival


Renowned filmmaker Jang Jaehyun's latest creation, "Pamyo" (Exhuma) (2024), featuring alumna actress Kim Goeun of the School of Drama, is set to make its premiere at the Forum Section of the prestigious 74th Berlin International Film Festival in February. Jang, an alumnus of the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, presents a captivating narrative with Kim Goeun among its stellar cast.

The Forum Section of the Berlin International Film Festival is known for showcasing innovative and enigmatic films that embrace uniqueness and creativity. "Pamyo" (2024) delves into the unusual events faced by a geomancer, an undertaker, and a pair of shamans, portrayed by Kim Goeun, Choi Minsik, Yoo Haijin, and Lee Dohyun, respectively. Jang Jaehyun, known for directing "The Priests" (2015) and "Svaha: The Sixth Finger" (2019), brings his distinctive storytelling to this anticipated film.

The Berlin International Film Festival highlighted "Pamyo" as "an auteur and genre film that stands out most among all the selections of the Forum Section of this year." Barbara Wurm, Chief Film Programmer of the Forum Section, praised the film as "an excellent auteur movie with a profound universe that will undoubtedly represent Korean cinema." She expressed pride in screening "Pamyo" at its world premiere, emphasizing Jang Jae-hyun's directorial prowess and the stellar performances of the cast. The expected release date for "Pamyo" (2024) in South Korea is February 22.
