Dean Kim Samjin of School of Dance Receives Prestigious Awards for Contributions to Traditional Arts and Barrier-Free Dance


In a commendable achievement, Dean Kim Samjin of the School of Dance has been honored with a citation and the distinguished title of "Exquisite Dancer of 2023" by the Korean Traditional Music Association. This recognition is a testament to Prof. Kim's unwavering dedication, particularly in her role as the chairperson of the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation (KoTPA), where she has played a pivotal role in establishing an infrastructure to support and enhance traditional arts, thereby contributing to the promotion of Korean traditional performing arts.

The "Exquisite Dancer of 2023" award, initiated in 2013 by the Dancers' Career Development Center under the direction of Lee Haejun, aims to acknowledge the dedication and passion of dancers, marking its significant 10th anniversary this year.

Additionally, Kim Samjin has been conferred the "John Dewey Award Barrier-Free" for her outstanding contributions to promoting barrier-free activities in the realm of dance in Korea. Serving as an inspirational leader for professional dancers, Prof. Kim has set a notable example by providing creative choreography for dancers with disabilities, facilitating their journey in overcoming obstacles and pursuing their paths in the world of dance.
