K-Arts Launches Innovative 'Zero-Education' Pre-Admission Course for 2024 Spring Intake, Offering Diverse Art Disciplines and Community Building Opportunities
K-Arts is set to launch a pre-admission
course named 'Zero-Education' targeting prospective students admitted for the
2024 spring intake.
Organized by the Faculty of Arts and
Liberal Studies, 'Zero-Education' is designed to furnish incoming freshmen with
diverse opportunities to grasp fundamental concepts across six distinct
schools: Music, Drama, Film, TV & Multimedia, Dance, Visual Arts, and
Korean Traditional Arts. The initiative aims to cultivate a fresh perspective
and a sense of community through collaborative interactions with peers from
various schools and majors.
'Zero-Education' is scheduled to unfold
at the Headquarters Campus over a two-day from February 14th to 15th, featuring
a comprehensive curriculum comprising six classes. These classes, directly
instructed by faculty members from the six participating schools, are designed
to be experiential and discussion-based, encouraging prospective freshmen to
actively immerse themselves in the exploration of various art disciplines.
Professor Kim Soojin (Department of Musicology, School of Music) will spearhead a class titled "Music and Humanities," delving into the cultural value of music and exploring individual major fields. Professor Yoon Sohee (Department of Acting, School of Drama) will facilitate a class titled "Improvisation and Body," concentrating on enhencing body sensitivity through improvisational movement training. Professor Ha Seungwoo (Department of Cinema Studies, School of Film, TV, and Multimedia) will lead "Exploring the Second Renaissance of Korean Cinema," seeking the potential for a renewed era in Korean film industry.
Professor Ahn Duckki (Department of Dance
Performance, School of Dance) will guide a class named "Korean Dance
Within Me," awakening latent charm and excitement through the rhythmic and
stylish movements of Korean dance. Professor Ji Kangil (Department of Architecture,
School of Visual Arts) will conduct "Art, Architecture and Beauty," a
class that explores intersections between art, architecture, and science
through an investigation of aesthetics. Professor Park Insoo (Department of
Korean Traditional Dramatic Performing Arts, School of Korean Traditional Arts)
will facilitate a class titled "Workshop for a Dance Path," reviving
a sense of community through the collective experience of learning the basic movements
of traditional dance movements.
Upon successful completion of the
program, participants will have the opportunity to earn for one credit in the
general elective for the first semester of 2024.
